[Shotimes] anti-lock light

Kerry,

I'm not saying that pulling the codes will guarantee you will find the answer
to the problem, but it would be good to have that information beforehand
should you get taken down the primrose path.

Pulling the codes is easy. And Ken saved you 20 bucks by not having to buy a
code reader.

Then if you don't mind getting a little dirty, jack up the car, pull all the
wheels and inspect the ABS hardware.

Common failures are cracked gear rings, and defective sensors. If you were to
suspect one of the ABS sensors is bad, be forewarned that getting the old one
out of the bracket may be mission impossible without destroying the old
sensor. This is truly one of lousiest jobs I've ever attempted on my own.

If it turns out the gear ring is cracked, you should have the dealer price out
replacing just the gear ring rather than replacing the entire half-shaft which
I guarantee will be the first answer you get. The added labor to replace the
ring was cheaper for me than buying new axles.

Good luck and let us know how you resolve the problem. It is through these
common experiences we all get smarter working on our cars.

Cheers,
Carl
