I didn't keep close track of the total mileage, but Mapquest pegged it at about 2180 miles and 35 hours. I made it there in 3 days, back in about 2 (I REALLY wish I could have taken more time). There were several stretches of construction that slowed me down a bit, but not much. Vallejo is about 80 miles up the highway from me, so if you're coming via I-80, subtract 80 miles (yeah, big difference!). I averaged about 24.5 MPG out there, I haven't figured the average for the return trip yet. One note about following Mapquest's directions: Check the route beforehand on a map. They gave me a funky route through Salt Lake City that didn't make any sense at all. The worst stretch of road? I-80 through Donner Pass! I guess all the snow plowing tears up the road pretty good and California doesn't repair it often enough.

Just curious, how long was your trip (mileage)? How many miles did you do
a
day?
I've been doing some preliminary driving times to Vallejo for next year.

I'm so proud of my car! Made it from San Jose to Middleton and back
with no problems. I was worried about the fuel pump after the Sunday
night
dinner, but was told at the tech session that it's some valve near the
fuel
pump that is malfunctioning and not to worry about it. It was making a
terrible growling noise associated with the regular fuel pump noise
(vapors
bubbling back into the tank?). Haven't heard it since returning, though
(only heard it while there). It was nice to meet a bunch of people and
ogle
their SHOs. I finally got to see that stuff called "rust" that everyone's
talking about;-).
I had a thought about next year's convention here in CA: Maybe some
of
the people with limited time can get together with people who have more
time
than money and have them drive their SHOs from there to here, and back,
instead of having them shipped.
Oh, I saw some happy cows off the side of I-80, right near Vallejo!
