Ahh see, I thought the studs were part of just the outter trim panel. Thats
whats holding me back. I already havethe mirrors off the cars and on my
floor here. But I think I have a plan of attack now. If this works as well
as I think, anyone that has crappy old oxidized mirror housings can send
them to me and I'll buff them out and make them look like new for a few
bucks. It's really turning out great looking compared to the old greyish
look.

I'm not sure what you have done as of now. You need to remove the
mirrors (10mm bolts/nuts?) which are accessible by removing the
interior sail panels. Once these 3 are removed, the mirror is attached
by the wiring harness. This unplugs somewhere inside the door; if you
want, you can cut the wires and splice and solder/heatshrink new wires
in place when its time to reinstall the mirrors. The screws on the
bottom of the mirror only hold the motor in place.

Once the glass and motor are out, you have to remove the studs that
hold the housing to the plastic door trim piece that comes off with the
mirror after removing those 10mm bolts. These can be removed easily
with vise grips and a wrench to keep the whole thing from spinning
around.

More complicated to explain than actually do. :)

PS. to remove the glass, pull it off of the motor (gently)
