[Shotimes] Heat-related electrical problem?

Make sure you have a good ground on the little wire coming off the battery -
mine wasn't a couple weeks ago, and it ran 3 miles and quit, then when the
key was put in "run", no fuel pump, tried "start", would crank over fine and
almost start, but no tach. Then, with key in "off" and removed, the warning
lights would dance in the dash and the ICRM/IRCM was clicking in concert
with something in the snakes until I unhooked the battery. Not good. More
related to your car's symptoms, heat can effect wire resistance to ground,
yes?

Subject: [Shotimes] Heat-related electrical problem?

Hi all...

My '93 ATX has developed a goofy issue.

When the weather has gotten really warm of late, the car doesn't want to
give
any power to the fuel pump.

I had this issue (minus the heat-relatedness. It happened regardless of the
outside temp) a couple summers ago, and my mechanic had tracked it down to
the
ICRM/IRCM module (the big relay the bolts to the driver's side front support
near the radiator).

Well, this started happening again this summer, and I put in another module
(used, from wrecking yard). Didn't seem to make any effect.

The first time I replaced this module, it had stopped working, period.

This time, it only happens in the hot afternoon/evening.

For example, I went to a movie last night at 5pm - car got me to theater
just
fine. Parked in the sun. 2 hours later, I come out, still having that
issue.

Went to dinner with a buddy in his car, went around town, came back to my
car
at about 9:45. Still won't start.

Had him leave me at my car, would either tow it home, or it would start.

At 10:30, called tow company. At 11:00, tow truck arrives, and my car
starts
before the truck trys to hook up.

Drove home just fine. Starts this morning.

I'm not absolutely convinced that it's the ICRM. I don't think it's the
fuel
pump, however, because I just had that replaced about 3 months ago.

Any other ideas?

Now, I'm not saying that this module couldn't be bad as well, but,
