Interesting... I bought a used Chrysler Sebring at an auction yesterday
(looks like I'll soon be leaving the SHO world), today I picked it up and
took it to my mechanic to fix its problems, and a couple hours later when
my mechanic called me to give me a quote on the cost of repairs, commented
on the amount of rust under the car. He said it looked as though the car
had come from back East (I'm in Vancouver, BC).
Then I saw this free Carfax link-- when I bought my car, it wasn't
declared as being out-of-province. Looked up the VIN, and it turns out
that my car is indeed a BC car, however has lived much of its life in a
remote town on the north end of Vancouver Island (for those who know BC),
right along the sea, where it's been exposed to sand, salt, constant salt
water, and more salt for all those years. Oh well-- most of the body's
good. I got the car so cheap that if it only last me abotu two years
before it rusts to pieces, I'll have more-than gotten my money's worth out
of the car. ...Too bad insurance costs about a third more than it does
for my 89 SHO...
Thanks for the link!
