Sorry, Lexol is the best, IMHO, and I have never had any issues at all like
that, In fact, on the older leather, I apply the conditioner very heavily
(after using the Cleaner per the instructions), and let it sit for awhile
before I wipe it off. I have not had a problem on my four SHOs, nor on my
911, nor on two of my Dad's cars, nor on Don Mallinson's '91 Plus, over the
past 10+ years I've used it.
I strongly suspect that the "build-up" is not Lexol, but that the leather on
those seats was sealed over the years with something like Armor-All or some
other substance that (1) sealed the leather, and/or (2) is something that
has an adverse chemical reaction with the Lexol. That "sticky epoxy" sure
sounds like an adverse chemical reaction to me.
I believe that you need to find a strong cleaner of some sort to get the
seats clean from whatever crap is on them, then try the Lexol again.

Subject: [Shotimes] Lexol build-up on leather removal ?
I've used Lexol on leather for years, never had a problem. I used it on my
SHO leather (front seats)...tan color....here's the story:
I applied it as usual altho perhaps a bit more than normal to penetrate the
leather. Buffed it as usual
Within a few days I got a build-up of Lexol ..it "bunched up" in clumps and
remained sticky. It also attracted and absorbed every bit of dirt that came
its way. The seats looked horrible.
Emailed Summit (Lexol)..was told to use its cleanser as Lexol is
water-based/soluble.
After 1 1/2 hours of HARD scrubbing using lexol cleanser/hot water..starting
with a coarse rag..then a kitchen pot scrubber(sponge with aggressive
scrubber backing)..nada....the Lexol was like sticky epoxy. Little if any of
it came off.
I then rsorted to steel wool....THAT finally got it off. It was also an
exercise in "careful"...
I've used many chemicals, substances, coatings in my life on everything from
leather to titanium...never have I seen anything like (supposedly water
soluble) lexol build-up.
If any of you have had similar experiences, I sure would like to know and
good leather treatment for my SHO. My Lexol products are forever getting
deep-sixed.
