Isn't that what you are driving now? Don't mean to be difficult, but in
viewing a used vehicle from a pure expense standpoint, your current SHO
seems to qualify as a great used vehicle for you.
The $2,500 that you may get for it won't buy you squat.....and definitely
won't get you something as reliable as what you have. Any money that you
spend over & above the $2,500 for something used would probably not be
needed on your SHO.
Your '93 ATX is about at the bottom of it's depreciation curve. Drive the
wheels off it at this point. Since you are in IT, view this job as a
"temporary", and keep expenses low. Myself and others in IT know that all
are "temporary" at this point......as about all of my IT acquaintances have
had serial layoffs over the last few years.

Frank Fox at the Convention brought his 302K-mile ATX SHO, and was racing
it.
Unless you want to spend $10-20K+ for a late-model, low-mileage used car,
why not stick with what you've got?
$2,500 is barely a down payment on a good used car.
Plus, from personal experience, because you got a new job today doesn't mean
that you will have it 6 months from now.....but the car payment won't go
away!

I got a job today after 6 months of looking. I need a lower mileage car. I
might just keep it, however, if I can get $2500 for it, it goes.
I will be setting up a web page with details of what it has but wanted to
just put up a quick post.
