The Drivers Edge is a teen-specific training course that sounds like it is
very useful. Plus, using Camaros and BMWs pretty much can cover the spectrum
of car that young teens think are pretty cool, so they can brag to their
friends......not like driving Dad's four-door Taurus!!

>From an adult-driver standpoint, save your pennies and go to a Drivers
School. Bondurant and others are quite useful! Steve Nelson at the
Convention (he being the SHO & Viper owner....both of which attended!!)
talked about taking a class at a Corvette school that used Z06s. As Don has
stated, it doesn't seem that there is much that we can do as a group,
because the SHO Club doesn't have thousands & thousands of members to
solicit to get great rates for a school. You have to search it out on your
own.

The only suggestion that came to me from the Convention was that I believe
that everyone in the Novice class should have a more experienced instructor
with them for at least one session, maybe two (we could juggle the run
schedule so the Advanced folks could do this). The Touring Group should also
request instructor help. As we observed, those groups were not following a
racing line and had a lot that they could learn on a track like Blackhawk.

Well,

WE have done two Skip Barber Schools and one half assed Bob
Bondurant school. But Ford was helping with them, and they
cost a LOT of money. I checked out doing one at Road
America this year in Wisconsin and could not get the price
down to about $500 per person for a short day if we could
guarantee nearly 100 drivers! I knew there was no way.

The Novice class this year is a very good way to get
licensed drivers some safe track time and help them learn
car control.

There are similar schools around the country, and you can
always go by yourself or in small groups and pay the going
rate of upwards of $600-$900 per day.
