This is likely the worst time to part with your SHO and assume big car
payments!
A little more than 5 years ago, I got my current job because I interviewed
my boss at Midway Field and during the interview, drove him to O'Hare in the
'93MTX which was very clean and with 2 cell phones, CB, scanner, was clearly
a traveling business machine. Sales after 2 years were still crappy (like,
I was still in first gear - working at redline, but couldn't seem to even
get to second) but he decided to keep me. And even added 3 more States (a
real life saver!) to cover.
The '93MTX was just about to go to my daughter to drive around as she got
her degree (C.E.) as I got the '95MTX. He kept me, because I could say that
my car, even though it had a lot of miles, would not cost me any more time
than a new one.
You have put some time and effort into your SHO and it is likely one of the
more reliable machines out there, baring one of the dull Japanese things,
and only if they are new or almost new. But then you stand the chance of
falling asleep in one these boring things and crashing...
(IMHO) Keep your SHO until you feel safe and secure in your new position,
and then and only then, get something newer with a big payment, but knowing
that it will not cost you anymore time away from work duties than your, now
trusty SHO.
