That track is closer to the Ohio population in Cincinnati than it is to any
sizeable KY population!!

The track builders know where the gullible fans live!! ;-)

The average person is sharper, but not the average NASCAR fan!

For example (and this isn't even NASCAR) there was an interview of a guy
an his girlfriend at MIS yesterday during the IRL race. You know, the
one that the "Chevy" almost won. The reporter asked the guy what he
thought of the race, and he was all smiles. He told the reporter "I'm a
big NASCAR fan, but this is my first Indy car race. I've been a Chevy
fan my whole life, and I just wanted to see how the new Gen 4 Chevy did
against the other cars."

Yeah, he's a sharp one!!!

I bet he hated Tony Stewart last year, but is a big fan now...all due to
the "Monte Carlo"

I can't even count the number of people I've talked to that were pissed
off when the Penske team (Rusty and the young whippersnapper) switched
to Dodges this year. I think Rusty's been driving a "Ford" for a long
time.

I recall the very first official event held at Kentucky Speedway, it was
the NASCAR Truck Series race. There was a gentleman (I use the term
loosely) a few rows in front of me who, every lap, would hold up his
24oz can of beer and yell "Woo! Go FORD!" at a particular "Ford" truck
as it passed by in front of us. As if it was a Ford, and as if the
driver could hear him!

I'm not sure if the blame here is on NASCAR or Kentuckians in general
;^)

Dave,

You can't tell me that you actually believe that the
majority of people out there think that the motor run in any
top racing series, including NASCAR has any relationship to
what they buy! The average person is just a bit sharper
than that. Even the Olds Quad Four that WAS production
based for a while a least, wasn't fooling many people.

The people that count KNOW who did the motor and what it is,
the rest of the people pretty much know that they can't buy
an IRL motor in their Impala. Same with CART/Ford or F1 and
any maker there.

It is corporate pride that they are going for and just
getting the name out.

No con job, just racing.
