[Shotimes] Corner Weights

Paul,

For road course or street applications you would what to have an adjustable
length link so you could remove all preload. Remember that preload really
means that you are shifting weight from one side of the bar to the other. A
preloaded bar causes the car to react differently when turning right vs.
turning left. Ideally you should desire for the car to feel and handle the
same for right or left turns. Therefore removing all preload is desirable.

Lets say you start with a car that has these front weights.

LF RF
750 850

Next we unhook the sway bar and suddenly the weights change to:

LF RF
800 800

This tells us that a) the front end weight is nicely balanced & b) the bar
has reloaded the chassis by 50 lbs (100 total). Assuming springs, shocks,
etc are all the same, you can see that right & left turns will act
differently. Not good.

The fix is to have an adjustable sway bar link on one side so you can remove
this preload. Of course weigh shifts diagonally in cars as well, so this
all affects the rear suspension too. Now you realize an adjustable rear
sway bar link would be nice too.

Hope this helps more than it confuses.

Do you pre-load it by using unequal length endlinks?
