Carl,

Nigel was driving for Williams when he won the championship, not McLaren.
He is also still well remembered and even revered among the Tifosi (Ferrari
fanatics) as Il Leone (the Lion) for his piloting pyrotechnics behind the
wheel. He gave them their first win in something like 5 or 6 seasons, and
backed that up with a couple more. When he was racing, 'Red Five' ruled.

To Ron D,

Fittipaldi was a two time world champ I believe, also Indy 500 winner and CART
champ. He also had his own F1 team for 2 years, admittedly unsuccessful, and
now he's running a champ car team.
As for JV, after his brilliant championship season with Williams, his manager,
Craig Pollack talked him into a partnership in the newly formed BAR team.
Pollack, apparently not much of a team manager, completely FUBAR'd the works,
was forced out, and now is trying to run a champ car operation. JV's days are
somewhat numbered as he's getting older, crankier, and decidedly overpriced.

If you lump all the guys together that won a small number of championships,
you can do that. I vividly remember the year that Mansell won the F1 title
and set the record for most wins in a season. Really frustrating if you
weren't a McLaren fan, but it was still a darn impressive feat.
