Hey guys, looks like I'm back on the list for at least
a while. The '96 and '98 SHOs are with my folks and
running well.
I bought back the '89 SHO I got from Randy Smith from
my daughter. Her husband has been driving it for a few
years but it doesn't look like it has been maintained
other than when it broke.
205K miles on it, ugly as sin, with a blue SLO trunk
lid on a black car at the moment. After I buy a can of
black primer for the lid and the rust spots and rotate
the tires (badly in need of it), I plan to change the
oil & filter then dig in.
Any suggestions on what to look for? I am after:
1) Safe
2) Reliable
Everything else is bonus after that.
My son is getting near driving age, so I started
showing him how to shift on the way home with it. If
it holds up and I can get it to where I trust it, this
will be his car in a year. Otherwise I will teach him
on it and then sell it.
Now for me, it seems to have some OK power (got her a
fuel pump for it a while back and that made a big
difference) but it is still the slowest sedan at the
house. Getting power up to par is not a main priority,
that part is just for fun.
With all the miles it has I am looking for lower $$$
things to do first as I see howit holds up before any
major investment.
