Sorry, I thought you were asking if it was scam. I used to dig into the
HTML and find out where it was going and report them to both Paypal and to
their ISP. In one case, I had the ISP reply back to me that they had
investigated and then shut them down. On all the others I've either
received a canned reply or no reply at all so I don't really know if
anything was ever done. I knew a guy that used to reply to them with email
addresses like "f*ckyou@eatsh*t.com", etc. I just delete them.

I now its a scam, I just figured I'd send a message out to let others
know about it. Don M. was having a problem with people scamming those
selling on the classifieds on the SHOClub site, so this was intended as
an FYI.

It's a scam. Paypal will never ask you to enter anything in an email.
If
they need info from you, they'll link you to their secured web site. If
you dig into the HTML embedded in the message, you'll more than likely
see
the info you entered into the fields doesn't go to Paypal but somewhere
else. You can forward it to Paypal but more than likely they've already
been notified about it. Just delete it.

I know this is very OT, but I also know that a lot of people on the list
use PayPal. Ive received 3 emails in the past 2 weeks supposedly from
PayPal telling me that Ive been inactive and they are trying to make
sure that my account doesnt get cancelled because of it. The email
looks just like other PayPal emails with the entire thing being HTML
with the PayPal letter head and the small print at the bottom with links
that go to the PayPal webpages. The fields in the email ask for email
address and password, mailing address, credit card number, exp. Date,
and ATM PIN. It even says at the bottom that the email will be sent
using 128-bit encryption. Ive receive 2 of the same emails and one
that was slightly different, it didnt ask for the ATM PIN. I also have
2 email accounts listed with paypal, but Ive only been receiving these
emails with one of them, which was one of the ways I first figured it
was a scam. If anyone gets these emails, report them to PayPal. Does
anyone know of any official websites where a complaint or something of
the like can be filed? Im sure there are going to be a lot of people
that fall for this scam.
