I originally got that info from Gary M., when I was shopping from struts
in '99. When I called shox.com they asked the build date of my car and
explained that there were 2 different length housings. I posted to the
list and that is what Gary said was the reason for the question of build
dates. I don't have his email that he sent anymore, or I would repost
it.

I don't believe it to be true, but......
Does anyone know if the early long-housing Konis have any more travel
than
the Gen2 -type shorter struts, or did Koni just lengthen the internals
and
keep the travel the same?
FWIW, I have long-housing '91 Konis in my '95, and it sure doesn't seem
to
be like there is any more suspension travel.....for as often as I'm
against
the suspension stops!!

Don't forget that there are 2 different Koni models for the rears,
depending on which housings you use. The gen 1 and early 92 housings
give the most suspension travel, and are the preferred ones to use of a
lot of people on the list. The later model struts reduced travel by
about a half inch I think. So before you get new strut housings, you
should figure out which Konis you have first.

I know I have read a few things on the shoforum about the "best" strut
housings to use, but I figured that here is usually a much better source
of
knowledgeable info that I'd ask. I have a set of konis that are already
in
inserts, but they are cut kinda short on the rears so I was thinking
about
looking for new housings before the install. From what I have read the
93-94
Gold topped ones are the ones to get. But any other info would be
helpful. I'm
thinking about just finding one housing and cutting some pieces of the
tube to
have welded onto what I have so that I can extend the length, but then
again
it may be easier for someone like myself without a welder to just get
some
other housings.
If anyone can hit me up with the details it would be much appreciated.
