> The general public doesn't understand this. (They probably didn't do well
in Physics class >either.) We had a well-publicized crash recently where
several teenagers were killed in an SUV >(Suburban or similar) when they
lost control on the freeway. I wondered if they would have lost >control if
they were in a Taurus. Right after that I overheard a woman complaining to
someone >else that she had just totalled her new pickup. And then I hear in
the news where someone was >killed in a crash of a Suburban-type vehicle and
was blaming the tires. Some or all of these >crashes could have been
prevented if the vehicles involved were taurus's or Camry's or similar.
Without getting into the whole SUV debate....I would say some or all of
those crashes COULD have been avoided if the person behind the wheel
actually knew how to drive (was trained in basic car control, etc).
Personally I think what you have to do (or DON'T have to do!) to get a
permit to drive a car is a joke. Ride around a parking lot and park in
between some cones. oooooh. Heaven forbid we teach somebody how to make an
aggressive move at 75 mph and maintain control of the 5000 lb vehicle they
are piloting.
