Yes lubrication was certainly a contributing factor. Also, he used a used SHO motor with a few miles and should have replaced the rod bearings in the first place. It's well worth the $50 at NAPA.  Room to play is the biggest factor in figuring out a tt app. on a SHO motor. The room for fitment is a bear in a regular SHO. In a rwd app. and a different frame it could be fairly easy. Hell, look at the big headers on Todd Cooks mountain buggy. Weeeee!
