[Shotimes] Camshaft Position Sensor

Typically the CPS causes a SHO to stall after awhile. It's very
difficult to re-start when hot. Once it cools down (maybe 20-30 minutes
later) it will re-fire.
If this sounds like your symptoms, I'd guess CPS.
When I've seen CID (or camshaft) sensors go bad, it's typically just
been hard to start and would idle badly.
Eventually the CPS should throw a 211 code. The CID (camshaft) sensor
will typically indicate a 214.
Good luck.

So if this is a CPS problem instead of a CID problem would the car still
start? Just looking for clarification.
TIA

The car should start with this sensor unplugged, but it may take a few
tries. BTW, the correct terminology is CID (cylinder identification)
sensor.
Your problem sounds more like a bad CRANKshaft position sensor (commonly
referred to as the CPS).
Good luck.

I think I remember someone writing that you could disconnect this in
order to get the car to start. Does anyone have a little more info on
this? Here is what happened. I was driving down the road when my tac
dropped to zero while the engine was still running. I was still in
second gear pushing on the accelerator, but I wasn't gaining any speed
(read engine would rev higher but not accelerate). All of this while the
tac was at zero. Then the car died and has not started since. What I'm
looking for is a way to get the car back to the house so I don't have to
work in the store parking lot.
