Don't know why I want to post this clip.
I think because we do have some new members here that wonder
about the longevity and reliability of our beloved SHOs. This
clip from Nate is a rare heart felt dedication: Enjoy the
memories!

Purchase Tonight
> Tonight I have taken a step away from the wonderful world of
SHODOM with
> the purchase of a brand new 2002 Subaru Outback MT5 2.5. (22k
at 384$
> under 'invoice')>
> They took the photo down of my new Subaru tonight, but it is
the (exact)
> one behind the 3.0 in this picture (same exact color as the
3.0). Sort
> of the same color as my maroon '89, but a little different
tint.>
> http://www.didufind.com/images/carco/SB1476.jpg>
> I dedicate this purchase to the Uglysho, which faithfully
served my
> needs for 10 years, as I sucked every last ounce of good from
its
> rotting chassis, but wonderful to the end and as I write
drivetrain.
> The Subaru is paid for, and I'm not a wealthy person. Just a
SHO owner
> who utilized the SHO to its utmost - for financial savings, and
for an
> incredible wealth of great driving experiences.>
> Just this last March, me, the Uglysho, and my Dog summit
embarked on a
> winter driving trip to Wyoming. Through incredible weather and
> distance, the Uglysho ran flawlessly. It became a fixture at
Motel 6
> parking lots across the west. More importantly, to the end, we
waved
> the flag for the forward thinking engineers in Detroit and
elsewhere who
> put this vehicle together. The machine they created was unlike
no other
> of the time, and is like no other of today.>
> Last spring, Scott Sweeney and myself hammered through 25 trips
down the
> dragstrip. A year before that, the Uglysho smoked the hell out
of my
> friends Miata, and anothers Saab 900st at a go-cart track.
Before that
> it traveled several times to Montana for the speedlimitless
craze of the
> mid 90's. 100 mph all the way across Montana - fully laden -
at 15
> below - never complained.>
> I towed my boat all over the midwest with the Uglysho. At
ramps so
> steep I had to swivel the front of the car from left to right
under full
> power in order to leverage the boat out of the water. Never a
> complaint. Or the time my trailer was stuck on a ridge under
water. I
> power cocked my car sideways, then straightened the wheel and
dropped
> the clutch in order to gain speed. The entire rear of the car
drug
> sideways 9 feet, while the boat trailer lifted over the ridge
and exited
> the water.>
> I'll not bore the crowd by going on and on, but trust me, I
could. In
> the end, it was the salty chemical laden enviroment of the
north that
> did the car in, along with Ford's subpar corrosion protection
of the> era.>
> No matter now. Parts of the Uglysho will live on.>
> My new Suby with all of its 60 miles is running great, and will
be
> subjected to much the same treatment over the next years should
things
> go well. It has some things the SHO didn't, and is missing
some things
> it did. But for me, after debating myself for years about my
next car,
> the choice was clear, and here I am with 3 yr/36000 24 hr
roadside
> coverage (too g-d wierd)! Quite a change from coveralls, a box
of
> tools, and a 6 pack of beer in case things really got
desperate.>
> Anyway, I wanted to make these comments, and godammmm my new
car is> nice!>
