this doesn't specifically answer your question but I'd take a look at 
what work was previously done and start from there. My 3.2 from my 
parts car was a mess. Spun rod bearing, loose head bolts, etc. From 
what I can gather, someone replaced the HG's at one point; they were 
barely seated and the heads themselves were loose. I took one of the 
piston/con rods to a local shop yesterday and the guy there commented 
on how stiff the wrist pins were. That engine was 
apparnetly "rebuilt/destroyed" at one point and slapped back together 
in an ungodly fashion. The point: sometimes the repair work leaves the 
car worse than it was before the so called repair..
