Christian,

ron is right, if you have to buy a helmet, you could get by 
with one of the few left over Snell 95 helmets, for a couple 
of years, or you could buy a Snell SA2000 and it will be 
good for about 7 years and be safer.

Get a quality helmet and it will not only be safer, but they 
tend to hold up better, and are more comfortable.

I like the Simpson, but Bell and others make excellent helmets.

I notice they have some closeouts of SA2000 helmets at under 
$200 that is a good buy!

I like an open face helmet, but many like the increased 
protection of a closed helmet with flip open lens.

I bought the compromise with the bigger opening and no lens 
since I won't be in an open car ever.  These are like what 
the pit crews now wear in Nascar and other series.  More 
vision and more air flow.
