Growing up in the middle of the midwests biggest Amish (no
Omish?) community in Arthur Illinois, I got a huge kick out
of that parady. He nailed the Amish 100% with his look and
acting.
Just so you know, I think most of them would have a sense of
humor about it, but they still don't like anyone to take
still or moving pictures of them since they believe that it
steals the soul. (really!). Tourism has reduced that
belief to some degree as they need the money.
Amish are mostly gentle people that just want to be left
alone (except when you are buying their merchandise) to live
their own life. My mother drove a school bus and got to
know a lot of the grade school children and their parents.
(Amish take their kids out of public school after about 6th
grade and stunt their exposure to the outside world by
putting them into their own schools when they get to the
impressionable teenage years).
As I have written before, growing up in Amish country means
you learn car control and slalom well, since you have to
dodge the "road apples" left by the propulsion devices of
the Amish (horses). :)
