Hey guys,
Thanks for all the good advice and thoughts on this, I guess I should have
explained further that my primary area of concern is the front exhaust
manifold, the one with two broken studs. The rear was ,frankly lucky, in
that one nut came off the stud with no bother, and the other nut AND stud
just backed right out of the hole, but is now seized up in my brand new deep
15 mm socket. :)
I initially considered going at the front exhaust manifold, to just take it
off in its entirety, but wonder if I wouldn't compound my project by
potentially breaking some of THOSE bolts studs. Frankly, I really envy some
of you when I read of "acetylene torches", benches, vices, air tools, etc. I
really had it much better in Michigan when I could put her up on jack stands
in the garage with a concrete floor, now I'm just that "scary dirty guy" in
the parking lot of my apartments. The one saving grace is that my apartment
manager has been away for the week in Michigan, I should have asked her to
pick me up some goodies from Village Ford in Dearborn! (Note: somewhere in
the fine print of my lease it says that working on cars is a no-no, so I've
been a Bad Boy...)
Slept like a dead mackerel last night, so this first cup o joe is taking a
while to get the ECU working, then I'm gonna go look for some PB blaster, a
drill bit, some metal plates for under the jack stands, and any other skinny
long gripping tools that will aid in access to the studs.
Sorry to go on, but I really appreciate all of your respective input and
feedback on this, it lowers the "&#@!" factor and actually inspires me to do
more in the future knowing that there is such a great resource of knowledge
and people here. So thanks.
