[Shotimes] Weird Noise after 60K service

Its a guessing game when u tighten the two tensioners and the timing belt.

If u over tighten the timing belt u will hear a whirling noise usually immediatly.

Not so with the tensioners .. Eventually the bearings will give out. What I have always been taught is to go through a process of elimination.

I would first remove the battery and the battery tray than remove the alt belt completely.

Seet the battery back in and twist tie it off so it wont hit the pulleys and start the motor.

If the noise goes away u have a bad alt tensioner bearing. IF noise pursists .. than remove the pwr steering belt and repeat the same procedure. IF noise goes away its the pwr steering tensioner or bad water pump.

If noise is still there. Than u may have reversed the timing retainer washer that goes on after u put the timing pulley that goes on the bottom of the crank ( the pulley that everyone has talked about the cancer ! ). If the washer is reversed ( its crescent shape ) it will actually eat the timing belt slowly over time. Secondly and this happened to my car. One screw cam out of the CPS sensor and the side of the sensor was hitting the timing vein and making a high pitch noise.

Hopes this help.
