YES! - got the thing started. The problem was (is) the wire that runs
from the starter solenoid (relay) to the starter itself. Washer was
broke in two - separated from the wire. Temporary fix was just to clamp
the wire between the nut and where the washer was and needs to be. I
don't know exactly what I'll do next to permanently fix this - All I
know is the car is up and running again! Thanks again to you guys who
responded - checking connections paid off. It was obvious what the
problem was once I found the broken link.
BTW - I have never worked on a car before until this one - so I am
feeling mighty proud of myself right about now (-:. !! Redundant
Thanks!! If you other SHO owners out there hadn't been there to help, I
would have been in a world of hurt over this thing. I still have tons
to learn so I hope you guys (and ladies) keep this thing going. I
should have started on a carb (simple) engine years ago, but I was never
interested. The SHO changed that in a hurry, and what an entree' into
engines! Thanks to you all though, I got the confidence to rip into
this thing down to valve shims, radiator, misc sensors on and
on.................
I had my 17 year old son run the car around the block a couple times and
man, did it sound good!!
My local Ford Service Manager helped me out a bunch - I'll be dealing
with him more from now on. They don't (surprise) work on SHO's much but
he was great about finding needed parts at decent prices. I am going to
talk to him more about being a possible resource for ALL us SHO heads
out there - I'll let you know more about what I/he can do. (Gaskets,
timing belt and 02 sensors, I got from AutoZone and RockAuto.com) My
Ford guy couldn't even come close on these, but I still only had to go
thru 3 resources to get all the parts I needed at decent prices.
Thanks again to all you SHO freaks out there - Damn, what did I get
myself into???
Kerry Kinion - '93 MTX, Bone Stock, 110K, 60k done, new radiator, hoses,
water pump, plugs/wires, thermostat/sending unit, CPS, Timing/ACC belts,
gaskets, new shims, new O2 sensors, new battery cables - on and on...!
After I drive it tomorrow, I'm going to tell you it runs like a "Scalded
Dog". Been waiting to say that for a long time!
Later.

First thing is u dont know if it is a starting problem or not since you
havent been able to get the starter working correctly.
I agree with the other post about checking your battery connections at
the battery and more important ... at the starter.
If this is your first time doing this its not totally impossible that u
either missed a starter wire or reversed something in the process.
You should have the smaller starter first the bigger unit. If memory
serves me correct ... the smaller units had more connections and are
easier to miss wire back up.
Once u get the starter issue resolved and it still doenst start , than
look at your engine ground strap that u had to disconnect .. make sure
you plugged in your CPS sensor .. and that the CPS sensor was gapped at
.030 over.
Engine will start of timing is off but wont run well .. but I doubt its
that.
Based on what you did, those are the first things i would look at ....
makes sure you reconnected your secondary runner vacumn line and the
main vacumn line to the intake. Also check the TPS sensor and MAff
sensor. Thats all I can think of what sensors I disconnect to do a 60
k.
makes sure obviously u have the plug wires seated right and in the
proper orientation.
123/564 i believe but its in the helms manual.
