[Shotimes] Tranny Leak

I have been trying to locate a mysterious leak on my car.  The fluid appears 
to be red'ish in color and I'm guessing that it is tranny fluid.  During my 
inspection it appears that the source may be where the speedo enters the 
tranny.  I tried to move it with my hand and it didn't appear to be loose.  
Is it possible for the fluid to actually leak out of the cable at the first 
connection or something?  Sorry this one has got me stumped.
