The reason I know that they are painted is that they rusted and I had to repaint the doors pillars.

  Okay, I am in my pj's yet, but I am almost 100% positive that my '93 has  taped pillars.  I know the doors are painted.  I just washed and dried the entire car yesterday which for me includes, drying all doors, jambs, door sills, etc., etc., etc.   So  I am going off my memory of yesterday.  

  I will check later after I get my lazy rear end away from the computer.  I am impatiently waiting to buy Tom Petty tickets!
