The Cannonball and One Lap of America are two different events.  The Cannonball was a quasi legal event run from the East Coast to the West Coast with no rules.  The idea was to dodge speed traps and smokies as much as possible while making as few pit stops as possible.  The one lap competition is more of a loop through several states with track competition at several different road courses.
