Subject: Location of O2 Sensors
Ian's description is apt. There are two, coming off each of the exhaust manifold pipes. The front one is really easy to see, not too far from the oil filter. As the exhaust comes out of the engine, it diverges from three pipes to one. This is where the O2 Sensor sits. It comes out of the pipe at pretty much 90 degrees with IIRC four wires in a sheath coming out that head up to a connector not too far away. It's bolted on with a 7/8 inch nut that is easy to get to if you have the tool. (Borrow it from Autozone for a $15 deposit.) The sensor on the back of the engine is a lot harder to see. You have to get it from the bottom and it's behind the auto tranny box. If you get under the car, slide back so that you can see up past the tranny fluid pan. You can see the exhaust pipes then and you can see the sensor sticking out of them. That rear one is a real pain in the butt to get at, but it's doable. When I did mine, I couldn't even see where the sensor plugged in to the car. I had to follow the wires up from the O2 sensor that goes into the pipe with my fingers until I found the wire disconnect. Kind of had to do that blind. Do yourself a favor and spray both of them with WD-40 or the like and take a five minute break. With all that heat, they're really on there good. I hope This helps and good luck.
