[Shotimes] track day at Putnam Saturday

Well, while fighting a bit of a cold saturday, I went with
two friends of mine to Putnam Park race track in Indiana for
a day of lapping with a bunch of Porsche and others from the
Indy area.

Our group was a couple of SVT Cobra's (the non-blower last
version) and my '89 SHO. I didn't really need a full day of
lapping (didn't have time to prepare the SHO right), but I
drove it there and talked the organizer into letting me go
on track at noon for "low speed" lapping. Turns out the
only differences between their regular lapping and the noon
thing, was it was free, and no passing. It was perfect for
me, I was able to get up to speed as I wanted, and by the
end of about 40 minutes! I was hanging the back end out and
doing four wheel drifts. Only real difference is I didn't
air the thing out on the straight, not wanting to go through
what was left of the Carbotech pads that I have had on the
car for about FOUR YEARS! (man, I wish they hadn't quit
making these, they are super!)

Anyway, the '89 was a true pleasure machine, hanging in with
many well prepared 'stangs and other things taking advantage
of the free track time.

I am working on a regular track day at this track for any
SHO people in the area in co-operation with my SVT group in
Peoria. If you are interested in maybe a fall track day at
Putnam. SW of Indy about an hour, then get back to me off
list. Cost would be somewhere between $150 and $300
depending on if you want to try and do it on a weekend or if
you can do a week day.
