I posted this about 2 months ago.
Would like to have the base numbers for Mobil 1, but could never find them
and am too cheap to just send a new sample...
"Just got the test back from another oil analysis on the "95MTX.
Because of the weather I let the thing go far too long without changing the
10W-30 Mobil 1.
The oil change places won't put on the big 5.0L FL-1a Mustang filter on, so
I started doing the oil changes myself. 11,000 miles! My BAD! (flame suit
on)
But strange as it seems the oil appears to be in better shape than the last
test in November which had only 7k on it before I changed it. In both
cases, Oil Analyzers said "results of test performed indicate no corrective
action required".
Thinking that the rod bearings can wait a while?
Nov test Mar test
miles 7000 11000
iron 18 11 (ppm)
chrome 1 2
lead 23 20
copper 4 2
tin 0 0
Alum 3 2
nickel 0 0
silver 0 0
silcone 5 9
boron 162 68 (think that this an oil additive)
sodium 16 0 (don't know what to think..)
magnesium - calcium - phosphorius - zinc all have really big numbers
(thinking that these are part of the additive package)
tbn 7.05 7.31 (total base no. - whats left to take
care of acids)
OXD 11 34 (don't know if this oxidation number is
important)"
