[Shotimes] fuel tank quantities

I intentionally ran my 95 dry once, to calibrate the fuel gauge.
Unfortunately, the results of that little excercise were in some stuff that
was stolen.  As I recall, however, I was able to squeeze in more than 21
gallons!  That includes "nursing" in the last gallon or so till the fuel level
stayed up in the filler neck.

Does anyone have any tricks for dealing with that metered orifice in the fuel
vent so that the tank can be filled totally? easily? I understand that VW Golf
TDI diesel has a "defeat button" you can push while filling the tank to
accomplish the "total fill".
