[Shotimes] Suspension & Motormount Question

Jeff,

I had a similar situation over a year ago - drove me crazy.  I
checked/suspected everything that you did and then finally took it to the
morons at the Ford dealership.  They told me it was coming from my loose
rear spoiler.  I removed it right there and took the "mechanic" for a ride.
Guess what?  The clunking noise was still there.  His final prognosis was a
loose trunklid or a broken spare tire hold down j-hook.  The best part of
that story is that they charged me nothing.

Anyway, one day I was under the rear of the car and I grasped the sway bar
to pull myself further underneath.  The swaybar "moved" a little so I
grabbed tighter and shook the hell out of it.  Found it!!!  My poly swaybar
bushings were egg-holed.  Never had the squeaking that most people have with
poly but they were damn hard and the swaybar movement made the holes bigger.
Yes, I greased them regularly.

Check your rear swaybar bushings.
