    Well yeah, the switch area is behind cyl #3's water jacket, but the 2
temps only read the same when you are at track temps.  Oil gauge stays cold
much longer on cold start-up (obviously), and never gets close to water temp
in everyday driving (I also don't life in Fla).  It'll swing up around 200
in summer, sitting in traffic, but it does equalize with the water at track
temp.

My 89 has a police grill, and no A/C system, no condensor blocking the rad,
so the rad gets good air, and is a 2" rad.  With the heat exchanger, the oil
temps will probably have a lot to do with the water temps.  My 92 runs a lot
warmer than the 92, on the street and at the track, and I'm sure the oil
temps are higher to.
