In my quest to get a larger car with an automatic (read BMW 750iL), I
stumbled across a 96 SHO. It seemed larger in the backseat area, where I
need it the most, to be able to haul the family around town (we're expecting
another child in November, for a total of three :-). My wife does not want
to learn to drive a 5-speed, plus the current 90 SHO does not fit my other
two children plus a car seat. The price seems right ($5995), which will
leave me enough left over to also get an 89 325is to play around with, but
I'll have to sell/trade-in my current 90.

OK, here's the VIN: 1FALP54N3TA249490
It's a silver 96 SHO, with 143k miles. Price is $5995, has 2 fairly new
tires, the 2 older tires could last until winter, everything else is
exceptional. Does this price sound in line with what others have been
paying/selling their SHO's for? It has everything, but CD.

What should I look for when evaluating this car? Any tell tail signs that
cams need to be welded soon, or need the transmission rebuilt? What
normally goes bad on these cars? Any Gen3 owners care to give their
comments, good or bad? If I do get the Gen3 and sell the Gen1, will I still
be welcome on SHOtimes? ;-)

Thanks!!!
