[Shotimes] I need a CarFax, please :-) and V8 info wanted

Personally, I would just replace the rear coils with new ones.

About the price. I would say that $5,995 is a decent asking price for a '96
with 43K miles, not 143K. Getting the price to the $4,500 or lower range
would be more in line.
Drive the car rather carefully, looking for odd behavior from the tranny.
Well, the tranny behaves oddly from the factory (!!!), but look for slips,
etc. Might even check the tranny fluid. If it's a dark, used motor oil
color, that's a negotiating point.

Get the cams welded as soon as possible. And the tranny will probably go at
some time. If it is shifting ok now plan on it in the future. Get the PS
flushed. Coils and the rear wiring for the coils are a problem too.

When the cams are welded it is a good time to clean the intake and Intake
Runner Manifold, change the plugs, rotate the coils and reinsulate the rear
coil wiring. You can have the valves adjusted then too but few people do.
