When we went to the factory as part of the '93 convention in Atlanta, I
remember seeing Japanese exports distinguished by their yellow taillights
but I don't recall if they had RHD - do you?

Dave,

There were Gen 2 Taurus's exported to Japan.  That is where the Mystic paint
came from, Japan wanted it, and Ford used it later on the Mystic Mustang and
94 Silver Frost.

that is also where the clear lenses came from for the later SE versions.
