Joe:
I have done extensive rattle and squeak control on my 93. Remove the dash
bezel and glue small strips of black foam to all places where the plastic
meets plastic on the edges. Any fastener/clip should have a foam doughnut
around it to take out any slack and keep the connection under tension. Make
sure the metal clips all have a good bend in them so they hold tight. As
they are cycled in and out they loose their holding power. I use a strip
caulk around the remote radio and rear defroster modules. It squeezes out
around the edges so you will have to detail it some for clean up. I you want
you can use this instead of the foam. It's just messier to deal with. The
strip caulk actually seems to be more effective for me. If any foam sticks
out use a small razor knife to even it up. Wrap any metal cans with a foam
layer or padding. You really can't over do it so just stop when you get
tired. Anytime you open the dash or doors to work on anything put a little
foam or another brace in there. I still don't like the amount of movement my
dash has on rough roads. For materials I go to a hobby store and buy 1/8"
and 1/4" thick black closed cell foam in 8 1/2" X 11" sheets, it's pretty
cheap. I use 3M #8088 spray glue from Wal-Mart to attach it. It's almost $3
a can cheaper than in the auto parts store. I have found J.C Whitney carries
a adhesive backed asphalt sound deadener in rolls. It's similar to Dyna mat
with out the name. Use it everywhere I can get too. One warning: Most of the
sound deadening materials are flammable so I guess it would add to the
danger if your caught on fire!
