[Shotimes] Engine Knock

I have narrowed the knock-knock noise down to the upper end of the
engine. Not the crank bolt, not the oil pan area, not the clutch area.
Seems to be in the valve cover directly behind thew coil pack (tensioner
chains) .
Can also hear it at the spark plug area for that cylinder (#6?). Intake
cam side.
Joseph & Don, if you have both had tensioner cam issues, is that what
this sounds like? It is audible at idle, but only under the hood with
the hood up. Sounds like a faint (rod) knock-knock. Hear a similar noise
under load while driving at 2400 prm (+/- 300).
I was thinking of pulling #6 spark plug wire to see if it changes when
that cylinder is "off" to further rule out a rod or pin or piston issue.
Any other ideas / comments?
Did changing the chain tensioner help?
