I had a 5' long X 4" wide X maybe 1/4" thick of steel coming at me today!
Bouncing around the expressway on the way to my daughter's house for
Thanksgiving Dinner. Scary, but at least didn't come through the
windshield.
Well, I wasn't good enough to completely miss it, so it got the sidewall on
the front, and it was, of course, an almost new Continental Supreme Contact
Tire.
After changing the tire on another Tauris and coaching another driver of a
Pontiac (GTP) how to change their cut tires, I found that my OEM spare
wouldn't fit on the front of the '95MTX with the '96 brake upgrade. Had to
reposition the jacks and put the "donut" spare on the back wheel. PITA!
I will be driving by several salvage yards either Friday or Monday on the
way to TireRack inorder to replace this destroyed tire and would like to
pick-up a 16" spare out of a Lincoln Continental.
Was wondering what years would fit? '95? or does it have to be a '96 or
newer?
Also, wasn't very happy that the "donut" was lacking in pressure. Many years
of having not ever been on pavement, it was down to less than 30#. Had then
to take the time to find the rare air pump (now $.50, but used to be free)
at a gas station.
