It's been 25 years since I lived in an older house, and I've had circuit
breakers since them.

Those are the new ones!
Most are the pull-out cartridge type (and my house is only 50 years old!).

Round screw-in type?? They still make those?? ;-)
Forgot all about them, haven't see them in ages!!

Yes, I have. (They're the round, screw-in type.) And I haven't run the
compressor in a few months.
I wonder if I dare try a 30A to see if the compressor would break loose?
Thanks,
Mark

Have you tried slow-blowing fuses?
They make special fuses for power tools. I have to use them in my garage or
the table saw blows a fuse every time.

While we're talking tools...
My big Craftsman air compressor is blowing fuses in my home when I turn it
on.
It happens so fast I can't hear the compressor start to turn over.
I've tried it on two different 20A circuits.
Any suggestions (other than to drag it to Sears service)?
Thanks,
Mark
