[Shotimes] muffler shops and flex pipe

When I had the Turbo Tube (which didn't look like any of the Turbo Tubes
that I found online!) in the '95, the straight-through glasspacks were
fine.....which would normally be the loudest things that you could put on a
car short of straight pipes. This was a very fat resonator, and it was as
long as it could be to fit in the available space.

Yes, you can tell the different sound of the mufflers IF the resonator is
stock or the small Dynomax or SHO Shop type. Unfortunately, it seems that
anything but the stock mufflers will rasp with any of these resonators.

What happens is that, with enough resonator on the car, the unique sounds
from muffler-to-muffler seem to go away. IMHO, my '95 with the glasspacks
was about the best-sounding V6 SHO that I had heard.

Actually, for a loud sound that sounds great in parking decks as it sets off
every car alarm, the Edelbrock RPMs do sound pretty good, but are also raspy
with the SHO Shop resonator. It might be interesting to try them with a big
resonator, but I suspect that the resonator will tame them down so that they
are indistinguishable from any other muffler.

Basic bottom line is that the V6 SHO is like the V10 Viper in this regard.
You can never get them to sound great, you can just get them to sound less
offensive!

I have had several different mufflers on my '89 and from my
experience the type of muffler makes a LOT of difference!

Yes, as I mentioned, and as Ron correctly states, the
resonator is critical for reducing the raspy sound (can't be
gotten rid of entirely though), but beyond that the mufflers
make a lot of difference.

Borlas usually sound almost stock. Flowmasters sound like
an echo chamber and loud. Edelbrock mufflers are WAY loud
and annoying for most people.

A simple oval true turbo muffler gives the best and deepest
sound for my ear, but then there are people that love the
huge straight through "ricer" sound, or the way loud
Edelbrock sound.

My '89 has generic turbo's that a lot of people love. My
'91 has a set of, I think, Thrush Turbo's on it that sound
totally different from my other mufflers including dynomax.
I suspect the Bullets would sound great on the V6 as they
are a typical turbo style.
