Walt,
Just to follow up what Jay said - R12 is classified as a nonflammable gas,
UN1974 (I think)  It can be shipped via cargo aircraft up to 150kg and
passenger up to 75kg (This according to the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation
Manual.  The offerer (person shipping) will need to fill out the paperwork
and attach the requisite labels.  UPS will have what is necessary.
