They say imitation is the best form of flattery.
I think Mark Nunnally gave us all a great idea in gutting older SHO's :).
I bought a 89 about a year ago and have been storing it. Finally about 3 mths ago I started on the project to make it into a race car in between working on customer cars.
I say its about 70% finished and I have about 3 mths to go before its all done.
The car has or will have the following:
3.2 motor
ported and polished heads
Stage I cams w/ SHO NUT adjustable sprockets
Ted Breaux LPM
190 fuel pump
1mm oversized SI race valves
extrude honed intake
SHO NUT phenolic spacers
BBB
larger TB
SHO SHOP CAI with a Pro Flow 80 Mass air
UDP ( no a/c compressor)
quaife MTX tranny
ported exhaust manifolds
SHO SHOP Y pipe
mandrell bent walker with a single rear flow master
Rod Shifter
eibach and tokicos
alum sub frame bushings
poly every were
frame stiffners
Kuhmo 225x50x16 autocross tires
steel braided brake lines
96 brake conversion w/ cooling ducts
race seat
optima battery in trunk
oil press and water temp gauge
over sized 3" Go Dan bad boy radiator
This car is wicked. Wickedly fast that is. I suspect once I fine tune the LPM that it will be close to 300HP. In its stripped down version now .. it is a hell of a ride.
I plan to trailer the car to road events and 1/4 mile events when all is done.
