Had another thought on this over the weekend, FWIW...

Assuming you will be using a 5 point harness with your race seat, I would
skip the frame stiffeners/strut tower braces and get a cage.  You do not
want to use a harness without a cage.  If the car lands on its roof, the
harness prevents you from leaning over.  This is bad.  If you can't lean
over, you break your neck.  Or worse!  If you're not using a cage, I would
stick with the factory seat belts.
