Even the same brand/model/size of a tire can change 
drastically from
year to year.  I bought Pirelli Sport Veloce tires for my 94 
Crown Vic
and loved them.

Bought the same tire (I thought) a couple years later for 
the 96 SHO and
they were a totally different tire. Different tread pattern, 
and they
rode super harsh in the newer tire.  I suppose handling 
might have been
a bit better, but I could not take the harsh ride, even with 
the SARC on
the '96!

So tires do change.
