[Shotimes] starter sticking

After many failed starters (try three starters on three
diffeent vehicles within 9 months!) and one teardown I've
determined the contact area becomes worn to the point
where there is too much resistance between the brush and
commutator. By tapping on the starter you move the brush
close enough and it starts spinning. You can clean the
commutator and get it to work for a while longer, but for
the $20 my local motor shop charges me, I don't bother any
more.
Also, my 3.0L SHO starter was drowning in oil inside the
starter. The PO obviously didn't take the time like I do
to cover the starter when changing the oil!
