[Shotimes] starter sticking

I would say "all of the above" (or below in this case!!). Brushes are
probably very worn, and crud inside the case certainly doesn't help. Saw
this as I watched the "starter rebuild" in the rest area on the way home
from Frederick last year!!

When the starter won't turn, is drawing juice and if you tap it with a
hammer
it will crank, what is causing this?  Bad brushes or just a cleaning and
lube
needed?
