[Shotimes] V8 transplant into Gen-4 Taurus-Possible?

If one could get a complete subframe and swap and find the wiring harness then
it may be a simpler job.

Either way it would be a lot of work for a DIY even with all the lifts, etc to
help out. If I had all the time in the world it would be a neat job. But so
would building a 3.0l Turbo motor, nothing drastic would have to change other
than R&R the motor, upgrading the tranny and a Fordchip!

I would think that all you would need is the wiring harness, computer,
y-pipe (maybe the rest of the exhaust but, I think they are the same
after the y). All this assumes that you have the engine/tranny combo
already.

The radiator might be different, power steering lines might also need
'tweaked' to fit.

When it's all said and done, you'd be way ahead of the game to just buy
a Gen 3 SHO. This way you'd also get the suspension, steering, correct
exhaust, etc. If it were me I wouldn't even consider the swap. Too much
hassle, time and money that would yield an end result that's not as good
as the real thing. It'd be unique for sure but, with only twenty-some
odd thousand made, the Gen 3 SHO is already unique.

Has anyone ever contemplated dropping a 3.4L SHO engine into a Gen-4
Taurus, such as a 2001 SE (which is what my wife has)? Would it be
possible? How hard (or simple) would it be, and what all would be
required? I think this would be a killer in disguise on the street, and
my wife really likes my car
('93 MTX) but doesn't like driving the stick. I would assume that I
would need the engine, tranny and computer, but what else would I need,
and what would I have to modify (just to get the engine in and drivable,
suspension, etc. to come later)??

Now let the great minds go to work. I can't wait to hear your opinions.
Thanks, as always, in adavance.
