Glad that you made it OK, sounds like it was a pretty decent trip! Now you
are already closer to the CA Convention site for next summer!

Subject: [Shotimes] Made across country, 3200 mi.
Finally made it. For all who didn't read my last message a month ago,
I recently moved from boston, mass. To Hillsboro, OR. We [the
girlfriend and i] packed the car full of crap and drove across country
in my 93 silverfrost atx with 175k on the clock.
The first night we stayed in erie, PA. [driving west on 495, to 290w,
then eventually hitting 90w] that's when I had gotten an intermittent CE
light, that would only come on if I was decelerating in cruise, down a
hill. We stayed with my aunt and uncle's house which. I had never been
there before, and they live right on the shore of erie. which, if
you've never seen one of the great lakes, its unbelievable, you almost
think your looking at the ocean.
The second night, we stayed in Joliet, IL, at a motel 6. Cheap digs,
but nice. no smells or stains in bad places or anything of that nature.
Had a couple of guys party-ing a few rooms down from us, but no biggy.
[drove on 90w for a while till we picked up 80w]
The third night, we stayed in Nebraska. It was a LONG drive that day,
but we wanted to get to Oregon. and I was worried about the SHO, as I
had never ever driven the car further than 150 or so miles away from
home before, so the SHO was definatly not used to being driven this
hard. We drove through Ohio, and Iowa. sadly to say many butterflies
lost theyre lives on the front facia that day, at one point when I was
filling up at a service station. I commented on how it was an insect
slaughterhouse on the front bumper, it was really bad. I had to pull
the K&N out and remove the butterfly carcasses from it. 20 or so in all
I believe. It was horrible.
The fourth night, we stayed in ogden, utah. After a hard day of
fighting Wyoming winds through foothills that I had no clue what the
names were. When I say fighting the wind, I mean, FIGHTING the wind.
It was so bad the car would open up the secondaries on an incline just
to keep the car going 65 mph. gas mileage was squat. We drove just
enough that day to hit 84w, then we hit the local motel 6.
On the 5th day, we woke up ridiculously early and drove from utah to
Oregon, 800 mile leg of the journey. I swear, I was never as glad to
see mount hood until that day. We continued on 84w through the
Columbia river gourge the bulk of the day. some of the neatest country
going through there. It was amazing, finally we made it to Hillsboro,
altogether the trip took 5 days to drive 3158 miles. no problems with
the SHO except for the CE light which hasn't appeared since the trip.
Just figured id keep y'all posted =P
